How do you turn on the phone backup?
In the Ohhi app, open the archive and tap Turn on backup. New photos and videos then go to your private archive on their own, and only you can see it.
How to turn it on
- Open the Archive in the app; on your phone it is in the library menu.
- In the Phone backup card, choose which photos go along: everything on the phone, only new ones, or everything from a date.
- If you like, turn on Wi-Fi only, Include videos and, on Android, Camera photos only (on iPhone this is called Skip screenshots).
- Tap Turn on backup and give the app access to your photos. With Estimate storage you see beforehand how much storage it takes.
What happens next
New photos and videos go to your archive on their own. On Android that also happens with the app closed, on iPhone mostly at night while charging and when you open the app. Nobody else sees your archive, not even someone with access to your whole library. To share something, select it and choose Post.
Storage and deleting
- Archive photos count towards your storage; videos count without streaming versions until you post them.
- If your storage is full, the backup pauses with one notification and carries on by itself as soon as there is room again.
- What the backup or an import brought in and you then delete on Ohhi, the backup doesn't put back, not even from a new phone.
- If you turn the backup off, what is already in your archive stays there.
