Share a trip with your travel companions

On a holiday with family or friends, everyone takes photos. Back home they sit scattered across just as many phones: one person has the best photo of the beach, another has the only one you're actually in. That's why you can now share a trip with your travel companions, so all those photos come together.

A shared trip builds on the trip folder, the view that lays your holiday photos out day by day and on a map. Each member links their own trip folder to the same trip, and Ohhi merges everything into one timeline. You see the whole group's photos in chronological order, day by day, with the map alongside.

How it works

Your trip folder carries a 'Travel companions' button. There you give the trip a name and invite people: friends on Ohhi you pick from a list, and anyone without an account you invite by email address. Whoever accepts the invitation then chooses which of their own trip folders belongs to the trip.

• A trip can hold up to thirty members, including the person who created it.
• You can also join without contributing a folder straight away; pick one later, or just look along.
• The switch above the trip flips between My photos and All trip photos.
• Only the trip's creator can invite; members can step out of the trip at any moment.

Your photos stay yours

Joining a trip does not mean opening up your library. Your travel companions see only the trip folder you link to the trip, and nothing beyond it. Other people's photos you can view, but not edit or delete; only the owner can. If you leave the trip, or the creator dissolves it, everyone's photos and folders stay right where they were; only the link disappears.

Your travel companions see only the trip folder you contribute yourself. The rest of your library stays private, and face recognition stays separate per person.

Inside a shared trip, face recognition also stays strictly personal: the names and faces you recognise are visible to you alone. The place names on the map are worked out on our own servers in Europe, just as with an ordinary trip folder. And accounts of minors need parental consent before they can start a shared trip or join one.

How to begin

Make a trip folder for your holiday, open 'Travel companions' and invite your group. Shared trips currently work on the web and need no paid subscription. If you don't have an account yet, create one for free; for more storage for the whole holiday there is a roomier plan.
