BlubHub: our free logbook for your aquarium
Next to Ohhi we build BlubHub, a logbook app for your aquarium that has been on the App Store and Google Play since this week. Free, no account, and everything stays on your own device.

Next to Ohhi we build one more app, and since this week it is on the App Store and Google Play: BlubHub, a logbook for your aquarium. We write about it here because BlubHub is built on the same principles as Ohhi, and because an Ohhi account lets you do a little more with it.
What BlubHub does
You test your water and enter the values in a test session. The app keeps the history per value and puts it in a chart with the band you want to stay in, so you see nitrate or alkalinity starting to drift before it becomes a problem. Beyond that you plan the maintenance in it and keep track of what swims and runs in your tank.
- Water values and trends. Nineteen parameters, from pH and alkalinity to calcium, magnesium, nitrate, phosphate and salinity, with target bands you set per tank.
- Reminders for water changes, testing, dosing, feeding and filter maintenance. You see what is due today, what is coming up and what is overdue; the notifications are scheduled locally on your device.
- Inhabitants and equipment. Who is swimming around, with count and photos, plus an overview of filter, lighting, heater and pumps. Several tanks can sit side by side, salt and fresh.
- A species database on the web. More than five hundred species with their water values and a compatibility matrix, usable without the app as well.
The same principles as Ohhi
BlubHub works without an account and without an internet connection. Measurements, reminders, inhabitants and photos live in a local database on your phone or tablet. There are no ads, no tracking and no third-party analytics, and the app is free. It is the same trade-off we make at Ohhi: no ads and no algorithm, so no business model that leans on your data either.
The link with your Ohhi account is optional. Without it, nothing leaves BlubHub for a server.
What your Ohhi account adds
Link BlubHub to your Ohhi account and the app can keep a backup of your logbook in a folder in your Ohhi account, so a new device or a reinstall does not cost you your data. You can then also share a page of your aquarium, with current water values, inhabitants and photos, through one link that you switch off again whenever you want. That backup sits, like your photos, on servers in Europe.
BlubHub is available in Dutch, English, German, French, Italian and Spanish, the same six languages as Ohhi. You download the app on the App Store or on Google Play; you do not need an Ohhi account for it, but if you have one, you can turn the link on in the app.
